Imagine Me & You 2006

Imagine Me & You
2005
Piper Perabo
Lena Heady
Matthew Goode
** of five from an embarrased to interested to dissapointed viewer.

Well when we first went to see this movie, my sister and I,
we thought we were going to see some dumb teeny bopper
movie about a wedding breaking up and people finding
the 'real' love of their loves. I mean come on, the two main
'stars' biggest movies are: Coyote Ugly and Chasing Liberty
(Piper and Matthew respectively). Well, I guess we were kinda right.
So while going we were quite embarrased, but were in the
mood for a 'fluff' movie. The tagline was:" There goes the bride."
Sounds pretty silly and fluffy, right? It begins, we realize we are in a
charming small town in England, the characters seem to
have that funny, enjoyable british charm so we kinda look
at each other with the thought, "Hmmm, maybe this will be
a sweet, funny, unknown british comedy?" Our interest is
peaked. Then we see Piper. She has an english accent.
I don't know what to think. Her fiance(M.G.) is an okay character
with a proper accent, but I am guessing that is because he actually
is english. So she walks down the wedding aisle and then catches
the eye of the florist. The female florist. As she is infact walking
down the aisle. So I lean over to my sister and say, "Oh don't
tell me this is brokeback wedding?!!" totally and utterly joking.
Well serves me right. As the absolutely wonderful and intriguing
plot continued on, it turns out we are watching a modern-day-
-lesbian-star-crossed-lovers-love-story. Now I have nothing against
lesbian love stories. But I do if Piper Perabo is cast as one of the
lesbians. And if the writer sucks. And if all the actors basically suck.
Welllllll, Lena Headly the other lesbian didn't really suck, but she
didn't make me fall in love with her either (NPI). I have only two
things I did enjoy about the movie. One the town it was set in, I don't
think it was London, but it is possible it was outskirts of London,
I guess...and the other thing I liked was Matthew Goode, who was
cast as her fiance. While he had his bad moments too, he made me
not walk out of the movie. He was cute. Sarcastic. A little charming.
Funny. And he had one really great 'breakdown' scene with his nine
year old sister-in-law that I really quite liked.
I have no one in my life that I would ever recommend this movie too.
In fact, I am recommending that you read my above commentary
again if you are actually tempted-to-rent-it/desperate-for-a-movie.
