Wow. How can you go from such a bad movie one night
(see previous post) to such an unbelievable movie the next?
This wonderfully written/directed/acted movie was also
written by a canadian, a fact of which I am ceasingly proud.
Paul Haggis, also the writer for Million Dollar Baby, chose
to work on this movie and let/ask Clint Eastwood to direct
M.D.B. Boy am I ever glad he did. One of my favorite things
ever, is to see people doing what they are born to do. Usually
this applies to people that I actually see doing their jobs, dancers
singers, painters, even pastors, but this is one of the few times
I have see it through the individuals work. I swear, this man
was made to write and direct movies to make people think.
An intricate story following some 13 or so different characters
and their story lines is full of wonderful characters who's path
seem to be continually crossing. It mostly deals with the general
issue of race in L.A. To say more than this would seem to be trite.
Rent this movie tonight only if you can handle:
-sex/nudity
-violence
-swearing
-racial tension
-hot guys (ie: D.C.)
-lots of storylines meshed together
-sarcasm
And one more thing: Be prepared to
want to watch it again almost immediately.
